The New Years

“The New Years” is an animated short film that tells the story of a family separated during the Korean War of 1953, viewed through an intimate and poetic lens. The film began as a personal project by the director, produced with the support of the Seoul Animation Center and the Seoul Business Agency, and reflects on the pain of separation, memory, and the longing for reunion.



River Minho Kim is a story artist and animation director originally from South Korea who is based in Canada. She studied anthropology and psychology at Chonnam National University and later studied animation at the Korean Academy of Film Arts.
