DISCOVER SERENO REGIS STUDY CENTER
The Sereno Regis Study Center is a cultural space operating since 1982 in the field of peace research, peace education and documentation of nonviolent struggles. It is one of the most important and recognized Italian centers for promoting the culture of nonviolence and nonviolent conflict transformation.
The mission of the Sereno Regis Study Center is expressed through three cross-cutting areas: research, education and action.
The institutional activity of the Sereno Regis Study Center, includes a strong investment in the enhancement of its heritage and studies, through a program of activities aimed at reaching specific audiences, intensifying the relationship with the territory, and the involvement of broad strata of society through a free, inclusive and cooperative approach.
Cultural programming, although based on the use of different disciplines in dialogue with each other, does not have characteristics of leisure and entertainment, but is directed to in-depth study, discussion, and confrontation on the pivotal issues on which our action is based.
The Sereno Regis Study Center is named after Domenico Sereno Regis, a nonviolent partisan who was a tireless animator of the first neighborhood committees in postwar Turin. The theme of conscious and widespread participation has always accompanied associational life. Facilitating participatory processes, giving a voice to the voiceless, accompanying the development of associations and movements toward the achievement of their goals is part of the skills that over the years the association has developed along with a deepening of the “social technologies” that allow these processes to achieve their goals from a perspective of inclusiveness and equity.
The organizers and organizers of GPAS are all and all collaborators, members or friends of the Sereno Regis Study Center. Which is a center that educates for peace and nonviolent conflict resolution.
So we could not create a hierarchical structure: ours is then a shared direction. Where, sure, there are roles, individual commitments. But decisions are made together.
Also the selection of films that will come to the competition is very extensive: the more we look, the more we reason, the better we analyze, the better we judge. So there are many and many of us. That we work for you.
And to grow, we hope, an initiative that is a festival, but that becomes, above all, over time, a network of contacts, of relationships, to promote film activism.
