The film follows Dine, Magassouba, and Omar, three unaccompanied foreign minors housed at the Elom and Azad centers in Palermo, run by Asante Onlus. Through their stories, *I Am Here* chronicles the difficult and often traumatic journey that thousands of young migrants undertake to save their lives. With a simple and direct style, and supported by UNICEF, the documentary invites teenagers in particular to confront the reality of their peers fleeing extreme conditions.
Gabriele Gravagna is a Sicilian filmmaker and writer who works in documentary film, focusing particularly on social issues, migration, and marginalized stories. His films emphasize observation and the relationship with his subjects, restoring dignity and complexity to those who are rarely given a voice in the public narrative.
