February 27, 1993, Štrpci, Bosnia and Herzegovina. A passenger train from Belgrade to Bar is stopped by paramilitary forces carrying out an ethnic cleansing operation. Of all the innocent civilians on board, only one in 500 passengers dares to oppose them. This is the true story of Tomo Buzov, the man who could not remain silent.
Born in Zagreb in 1973, Nebojša Slijepčević graduated in directing from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. He has won numerous awards at international festivals, including the Heart of Sarajevo and the Audience Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival, as well as a special mention at Visions du Réel. Slijepčević has directed several television documentaries, series, and short films and teaches at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent won the Palme d'Or for Best Short Film at Cannes 77, Croatia's first Palme d'Or ever.
