Mark, a cocky 17-year-old, signs up for a local demolition derby with a car named Rochelle—the same one his best friend used to take his own life. To do so, he seeks the help of a mechanic named Jazz, the sister of his late best friend.

Tom Furniss, an award-winning screenwriter and director from Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa, created Taskmaster Australia and the feature film debut The Mountain (executive producer Taika Waititi, 2024). His short films, including Rochelle (2024), have won awards at international festivals such as Tribeca, Milan, and Edmonton.
