Sometimes we would like our awards to change the world. Watching these two documentaries, we realized that this is not as important as facing conflicts without giving up, stubbornly continuing to recognize a possible solution: and doing so with the joyful awareness that we are fighting for a world of peace.
For this reason, the jury of Gandhi's Glasses awards the prize ex aequo to:
COEXISTENCE, MY ASS! by Amber Fares
and
THE CLOWN OF GAZA by Abdulrahman Sabbah
For transforming humor into an act of resistance, capable of exposing the contradictions of conflict and illuminating the darkness of war with the simple and universal power of a smile. Coexistence, My Ass! and The Clown of Gaza testify that cinema can be a voice of truth and hope, celebrating human dignity even in the most fragile places.
also awards a special mention to
BOBÒ by Pippo Delbono
Because listening to the Other and being willing to change intimately is profoundly nonviolent. Bobò is an example of an encounter where those in need care for those who saved them, in a soothing and creative reciprocity.
